La Gomera - Landscapes

Black sheeps on black sand

Like all the Canary Islands, La Gomera is full of Germans. However, the visitors don't wear Nike, but Birkenstocks. That is the difference. Hippies, artists, freaks and esoterics characterise the island like the black sand. The black sheeps quickly find the solitude they desire away from the small towns.
There are no right angles in the landscape, which is something that irritates me about landscapes. The lines on La Gomera are blurred in the distance. Clouds appear unexpectedly and seemingly aimlessly to cover parts of the landscape. The horizon over the vast ocean is often so far away that it disappears into nothingness. The landscape offers many flat impressions. Deep canyons, steep cliffs and large rock faces characterise the landscape on Gomera, which suits my search for a lack of perspective. Vertiginous views scattered with lovely palm trees.
